INT. NYC apartment on the Lower East Side

Thea grew up on the West Coast and when she was a senior in high school she was hit by a drunk driver. She was wearing her seatbelt but even that didn't stop her from being thrown through the windshield. She was rushed to the hospital where she remained in a coma for almost two weeks. Her aorta was torn, both of her femurs were broken in half, and she sustained a litany of injuries. Before her accident, Thea was being recruited by the top schools in the country for volleyball. She is told by her doctors that the chances of her walking again are very slim. Countless surgeries and physical therapy sessions later, Thea walks. but she cannot play volleyball. With athletics now somewhat out of the picture, Thea turns to the stage and finds she has an immense talent and passion for the performing arts. Thea shines and shines and shines. New York City beckons. So do the agents. Thea meets a boy. LA and the industry folk bring her out for pilots and meetings. She likes the theatre but she loves the screen. No matter where she goes or what she does, she will always carry with her reminders of that one day when she was younger and her life changed. The day that she was hit by that car Thea became beautiful and strong and funny and smart and brave. Now Thea brings joy to others through her performances. She seeks to preserve a culture that most others would have turned their back on. When the doctors fixed her heart they all remarked on how this little girl survived when she should have died. But she has things to say. Oh, so many things to say.
